Want to learn 3D printing or maker tech in 2016? We are teaching one-month online classes through LERN Network starting in February.
The one-month-long 3D printing class (offered in February, April, June and September) is aimed at beginners and is focused on consumer printers generally, with a particular focus on open-source printers.
The Maker Tech class, also a month long(March, May, July and October), is meant to be a broad introduction to all things maker for teachers, parents, administrators, and even scientists looking to take advantage of cheaper electronics.
Registration now available at these links:

They have been early adopters themselves and have interviewed many more for their books and will give a view from the front line.

New Book - 3D Printing With MatterControl - expected out this week
Our new book, "3D Printing with MatterControl" is expected out this week, just in time for New York Makerfaire. It will be available shortly after that in the MatterHackers store, on Apress' site and on the usual major online booksellers.
When Rich Cameron and I teamed up on the earlier book Mastering 3D Printing a year ago there were very few screen shots and a lot of general direction on how to think about 3D printing and where to get the latest info. Now that MatterControl has emerged as an open source standard, it was cool to write the first book focused on it. We can now provide detailed instruction for both beginner and advanced features. We appreciate all our friends at MatterHackers who provided great advice and support (not to mention the software.) It is amazing to see how much 3D printing has evolved in one short year.
We are tentatively scheduled to be at the MatterHackers booth at Makerfaire New York Saturday/Sunday the 26/27 at 1 PM each day, and at the Apress both at 2 PM both days. We will post updates if that changes.

New book available for alpha or pre-order - "3D Printing With MatterControl"
Our new book from Apress, "3D Printing With MatterControl" is now available at http://www.apress.com/9781484210567 either as an "alpha book" now (partial ebook download with rest of book available later) or preorder of the print book. Amazon has it up for preorder, too.
"Mastering 3D Printing" was written about a year ago when there were few standards, so it's more of a "why" book to help you think about how to use a printer and where to find more. Since MatterControl, from our friends at MatterHackers has emerged since as a widely-used host program, we wrote the new book to be more of an explicit detailed guide to using host software, with some of the broader material too but more of a focus on just exactly how to get a print. We are excited!
